- 1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
- 1/4 cup grenadine
- 1 (750-milliliter) bottle Prosecco or dry sparkling wine, chilled
- 6 lime slices (optional)
- Pomegranate seeds (optional)
Combine pomegranate juice and 1/4 cup grenadine in a 2-cup glass measure. Divide the juice mixture evenly among 6 Champagne flutes or wineglasses. Top each serving evenly with wine, and garnish each serving with lime slices and seeds, if desired.
Peppermint Hot Chocolate
For all of you that think that chocolate is bad for you, think again! Natural, raw cocao is packed with antioxidants that help to boost the immune system. Something that is very needed this time of year. Here is a great recipe for hot chocolate (with some mint liquer) that you could try.
- 8 cups 2% reduced-fat milk
- 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 12 candy canes
- 3/4 cup miniature marshmallows
- Whole grated nutmeg (optional)
Combine milk, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, nutmeg, and semisweet chocolate in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook 25 minutes or until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth, stirring occasionally. Serve with candy canes and marshmallows. Garnish with whole grated nutmeg, if desired.
Apple Cider Sangria
Us nutritionists always go on about how important it is to eat fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. So, why not include some in a fun holiday drink? Here is a fun and tasty recipe for sangria.
- 1 bottle white wine
- 2 1/2 cups fresh apple cider
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 cup vodka
- 2 apples, chopped
- 1 orange, chopped
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
Chop apple and orange and place in the bottom of pitcher with pomegranate seeds. Add in wine, apple cider, cinnamon sticks, vodka, honey, and cinnamon. Stir and serve with ice.
Healthy Spiced Egg Nog
Adding cinnamon is great way to get added antioxidants which are also anti-inflammatory. Here is another great cinnamon-spiced egg nog you can have guilt-free for under 200 calories.
- 1 1/2 ounces SMIRNOFF Cinna-Sugar Twist Flavored Vodka
- ground cinnamon
- 3 ounces of low-fat egg nog
Fill a shaker with ice cubes,vodka, and eggnog and shake. Fill a low ball galss with ice cubes and pour shaker ingredients into glass. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
